How to assess support priority from evidence of impact
Priority is useful only when it reflects the team's actual rules for impact and urgency. This tool prepares a suggested priority and the evidence behind it for a person to review.
Start with the right material.
- What you provide
- visible ticket text and the team's stated priority rubric.
- The intended result
- Suggest priority with supporting facts and uncertainty for human review.
How the workflow works.
Look for supplied facts about affected users, blocked work, deadlines and available workarounds. Apply the provided rubric consistently and state which required details are still missing.
What to check in the result.
Check the proposed priority against your service commitments and escalation process. Strong wording or an unhappy tone alone does not establish the technical severity or business impact of the issue.
Import the CSV with a consistent delimiter and inspect text identifiers, dates and amounts before using spreadsheet totals. Keep the original file available while checking any automatic type conversion.
Learn from the worked example.
The downloadable CSV example uses these columns: Suggested priority, Evidence, Rubric rule, Review status. Compare a complete record with the source before sorting, combining or importing your own output.
The supplied example is illustrative. It is not a recorded run on your data.
