How to prepare a project handoff checklist for the next owner
A handoff checklist reduces the chance that important context stays with the person leaving the project. It should help the next owner locate the work, understand its state and identify immediate responsibilities.
Start with the right material.
- What you provide
- visible project documentation plus handoff destination.
- The intended result
- Create a checklist of deliverables, owners, access needs and unresolved items.
How the workflow works.
Organize the supplied information into deliverables, access references, open issues, recurring duties and contacts. Include evidence locations rather than placing sensitive credentials in the checklist.
What to check in the result.
Walk through the list from the recipient's perspective. Mark missing documents or unclear ownership, and confirm the handoff instead of assuming a generated checklist proves that access and understanding are complete.

Learn from the worked example.
The downloadable Markdown example shows one possible organization of the result. Read it alongside the source example and notice which statements are recorded facts, proposed wording or questions still needing an answer.
The supplied example is illustrative. It is not a recorded run on your data.

- Open the source you want to work with and activate WebAct on that tab.
- Copy the task from the hero, add any required fields or preferences, and review the proposed actions.
- Compare the first result with your source. Ask for a specific correction or refinement where needed.
