Get WebAct ready.
Install the Chrome extension and verify your WebAct account. Choose Browser model → ChatGPT and sign in when prompted.

Bring the right context.
Open the thread in Slack’s browser app. Include the parent message and the replies needed to understand any changed commitments. Select that thread, activate WebAct and choose Task mode.

Keep the commitment and the context together.
A thread can contain a request, a revised deadline and a later confirmation. Extract the agreed next action with its supporting message so you can check the interpretation. Keep an unassigned request separate from a commitment that someone explicitly accepted.
A person mentioning a task is not always its owner. A proposed Friday deadline is not a confirmed Friday deadline. Preserve uncertainty in the CSV and ask the team to resolve it before copying the rows into a task manager.

Use an explicit assignment or acceptance in the selected messages. If nobody takes ownership, leave the Owner cell blank and mark the row Needs confirmation. Do not assign work based on who happened to post the message.
What happens when a deadline changes in a reply?
Include the relevant replies in the source. Use the latest explicit agreement for the action and retain evidence of the change. Keep a relative date such as Friday as written unless you supply enough date and timezone context to convert it.
Does it create tasks in Asana, Trello or Notion?
This recipe downloads a CSV for you to review. Creating tasks in another app, sending reminders and watching future Slack messages are outside its scope.
Can it process the Slack desktop app?
Use Slack in a Chrome tab for this recipe. The browser extension works with the page you activate. Include only messages you are allowed to share with the selected browser AI provider.
What should I check in the result?
The confirmed deadline changes to Friday; link checking stays unassigned. Only the selected readable thread is covered. Old unloaded replies, private conversations outside it and attachment contents are excluded. No tasks or Slack messages are created automatically.
Can I use this on the Free plan?
Yes. Install the Chrome extension, verify your WebAct account and use an available ChatGPT browser connection in the same Chrome profile. Free includes 25 user-started automation tasks per calendar month (UTC), shared across all tools. A task counts when its first action starts; steps and necessary retries within that task do not count separately. Provider limits apply. After 25 tasks, upgrade or wait for the reset.
Does this page run the task?
