How to compare form values with a supplied source
A form-value comparison helps catch transcription differences before a record is saved or a form is submitted. It is most useful when the source and destination fields have an agreed mapping.
Start with the right material.
- What you provide
- an active form plus a user-supplied reference record.
- The intended result
- Compare non-secret field values to supplied facts and report mismatches without submitting.
How the workflow works.
Align corresponding fields and report matches, differences and unavailable values. Preserve meaningful formatting, especially identifiers, dates and units that may look similar while representing different information.
What to check in the result.
Review the exceptions against both sources before changing anything. A difference is a prompt for inspection, not automatic proof that the form or the source is wrong.
Import the CSV with a consistent delimiter and inspect text identifiers, dates and amounts before using spreadsheet totals. Keep the original file available while checking any automatic type conversion.
Learn from the worked example.
The downloadable CSV example uses these columns: Field, Reference value, Current value, Status. Compare a complete record with the source before sorting, combining or importing your own output.
The supplied example is illustrative. It is not a recorded run on your data.

- Open the source you want to work with and activate WebAct on that tab.
- Copy the task from the hero, add any required fields or preferences, and review the proposed actions.
- Compare the first result with your source. Ask for a specific correction or refinement where needed.
