How to convert an HTML list into spreadsheet rows
A list can hold useful records even when the page has no formal table. This tool is helpful when you want list items in a spreadsheet while preserving the structure that explains them.
Start with the right material.
- What you provide
- one selected ordered or unordered list.
- The intended result
- Create one CSV row per list item with nesting level and parent label.
How the workflow works.
Choose whether a nested list should become separate rows or a parent-and-child relationship. If a heading applies to several items, carry that heading into an explicit column instead of losing its context.
What to check in the result.
Compare the first and last items and inspect nested entries closely. A wrapped line within one item should not become a second record unless that split is part of the rule you chose.
Import the CSV with a consistent delimiter and inspect text identifiers, dates and amounts before using spreadsheet totals. Keep the original file available while checking any automatic type conversion.
Learn from the worked example.
The downloadable CSV example uses these columns: Item, Nesting level, Parent. Compare a complete record with the source before sorting, combining or importing your own output.
The supplied example is illustrative. It is not a recorded run on your data.

- Open the source you want to work with and activate WebAct on that tab.
- Copy the task from the hero, add any required fields or preferences, and review the proposed actions.
- Compare the first result with your source. Ask for a specific correction or refinement where needed.
