How to use the Survey Likert Scale Analyzer.
Likert analysis should preserve the scale direction and response counts. Do not compare averages across differently worded or reversed scales without adjustment.
Make the workflow fit your task.
Retain the question wording, ordered response labels and count for each category. Identify reversed items and missing responses before summarizing. Show the distribution first; if reporting a mean, explain the numeric coding and keep the sample size beside it.
- What you provide
- Response counts and scale definitions.
- What you get
- Distribution and summary calculations with labels preserved.

Example input
Responses on a 1–5 agreement scale: 1, 3, 5, 5.
Completed example
Counts: one 1, one 3, two 5s. Mean: 3.5, reported with the distribution and scale labels.
Load this input into the prompt, then copy it to WebAct to try the task. Your result may differ from the illustration.
Decisions and troubleshooting.
Can positively and negatively worded items be averaged directly?
Only after aligning their direction using an explicit coding rule. Otherwise the combined score can cancel opposite meanings.
Why does an average hide a polarized set of responses?
Different distributions can share a mean. Include category counts so readers can see disagreement and clustering.
Try it with your own source.
Replace the example with your material in the task prompt. Keep the requirements you need, then copy the task into WebAct.
