How to use the Inventory Reorder Calculator.
Reorder calculations depend on the demand period and lead-time units. Expose the chosen safety buffer instead of making an unexplained recommendation.
Make the workflow fit your task.
Align demand and lead time to the same units, then add the explicitly chosen safety stock. Show the reorder-point formula and keep the result distinct from the quantity that should be ordered.
- What you provide
- Stock, demand, lead time and chosen buffer.
- What you get
- Reorder point and quantity calculation with assumptions.

Example input
Daily demand 5 units; lead time 8 days; chosen safety stock 10 units.
Completed example
Reorder point: 50 units, calculated as 5 × 8 + 10, assuming the supplied demand and lead time remain applicable.
Load this input into the prompt, then copy it to WebAct to try the task. Your result may differ from the illustration.
Decisions and troubleshooting.
Is the reorder point the same as the purchase quantity?
No. It is a threshold under the stated rule. Order quantity also depends on stock position, packaging and purchasing constraints.
Why does the threshold look far too high or low?
Check daily versus weekly demand, lead-time units and whether the safety buffer was counted twice.
Try it with your own source.
Replace the example with your material in the task prompt. Keep the requirements you need, then copy the task into WebAct.
