A PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to export an article summary with its source intact

An article summary is useful for a reading brief or reference file when it preserves the central argument and its important limits. The aim is to make the source easier to revisit.

Start with the right material.

The intended result
Save a concise summary, main claims and source URL without claiming outside verification.

How the workflow works.

Identify the main claim, key supporting points and conclusion. Keep the author's position distinct from your own interpretation, and record the original title and link where available.

What to check in the result.

Compare the summary with the complete selected text. A short excerpt cannot establish the argument of an unseen article, so state the coverage when only part of the source was supplied.

Preview the Markdown to check headings, lists and links as well as the words. Keep source references with the document so a reviewer can trace important statements back to the material you supplied.

Learn from the worked example.

The downloadable Markdown example shows one possible organization of the result. Read it alongside the source example and notice which statements are recorded facts, proposed wording or questions still needing an answer.

The supplied example is illustrative. It is not a recorded run on your data.

What input does this Article Summary Exporter need?

one fully visible article. Expand the relevant content and share only the context needed for this task.

What should I check in the result?

Summary distinguishes the article's claims from verified external facts. Only the selected visible content is included. Missing facts stay unknown; verify the result before use.

Does it publish the draft for me?

The output is a file you can review and edit. Use content you are allowed to adapt, keep source references and verify claims before publishing. Existing transcript text is required for transcript-based recipes.

Can I use this on the Free plan?

Yes. Install the Chrome extension, verify your WebAct account and use an available ChatGPT browser connection in the same Chrome profile. Free includes 25 user-started automation tasks per calendar month (UTC), shared across all tools. A task counts when its first action starts; steps and necessary retries within that task do not count separately. Provider limits apply. After 25 tasks, upgrade or wait for the reset.

Does this page run the task?

This page provides an illustrative example and a task to copy. Run it through WebAct on the source page you activate. Selected page context is processed by your browser AI provider. An ordinary answer in browser Chat uses no WebAct automation allowance; creating a file or changing fields in Task mode does.
